Install the Lucid Agents skill

Give coding agents a versioned, inspectable guide to the Lucid SDK with one verified curl download.

Install the open Lucid Agents skill to give compatible coding agents an SDK-specific workflow, focused package references, and a read-only project inspector. The skill does not install npm packages, change your project, deploy, or contact a Lucid service.

Install in a project

Run the installer from your project root:

curl -fsSL https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/install.sh | sh

The installer is pinned to the current signed-off release. It downloads the skill archive, verifies its SHA-256 digest, runs the read-only project inspector, and atomically installs the skill into the portable .agents/skills directory.

Verify and install manually

Use these expanded commands when your environment prohibits piping a reviewed installer into sh:

(
set -eu
mkdir -p .agents/skills
lucid_skill_stage="$(mktemp -d .agents/skills/.lucid-agents-install.XXXXXX)"
lucid_skill_backup=".agents/skills/.lucid-agents-backup.$$"
test ! -e "$lucid_skill_backup"
lucid_skill_cleanup() {
  if [ -e "$lucid_skill_backup" ] && [ ! -e .agents/skills/lucid-agents ]; then
    mv "$lucid_skill_backup" .agents/skills/lucid-agents
  fi
  rm -rf "$lucid_skill_stage"
}
trap lucid_skill_cleanup EXIT HUP INT TERM
curl -fsSLo "$lucid_skill_stage/lucid-agents.tar.gz" \
  https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/lucid-agents.tar.gz
curl -fsSLo "$lucid_skill_stage/lucid-agents.tar.gz.sha256" \
  https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/lucid-agents.tar.gz.sha256
(cd "$lucid_skill_stage" && shasum -a 256 -c lucid-agents.tar.gz.sha256)
mkdir "$lucid_skill_stage/extracted"
tar -xzf "$lucid_skill_stage/lucid-agents.tar.gz" -C "$lucid_skill_stage/extracted"
test "$(cat "$lucid_skill_stage/extracted/lucid-agents/VERSION")" = "1.0.1"
node "$lucid_skill_stage/extracted/lucid-agents/scripts/inspect-project.mjs" .
if [ -e .agents/skills/lucid-agents ]; then
  mv .agents/skills/lucid-agents "$lucid_skill_backup"
fi
mv "$lucid_skill_stage/extracted/lucid-agents" .agents/skills/lucid-agents
rm -rf "$lucid_skill_backup"
trap - EXIT HUP INT TERM
rm -rf "$lucid_skill_stage"
)

The inspector command prints JSON only and reads package.json plus an optional root service-ui.config.ts. It classifies registry dependencies as stable, local or workspace dependencies as next, and a mixture as mixed. Resolve a mixed result before asking an agent to modify Lucid code.

Restart or reload your coding agent after installation. Then ask it explicitly:

Use the lucid-agents skill. Inspect this project first, preserve its installed
release channel and adapter, implement the requested entrypoint, and report the
exact checks you ran.

Pin a skill release

Automation should use the immutable versioned URL:

curl -fsSLO https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/1.0.1/lucid-agents.tar.gz
curl -fsSLO https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/1.0.1/lucid-agents.tar.gz.sha256
shasum -a 256 -c lucid-agents.tar.gz.sha256

Versioned assets are immutable. The unversioned URLs move only when a reviewed skill release becomes current. The machine-readable release manifest records the skill version, source commit, archive digest, and digest of every bundled file.

Inspect before installing

Read the current instruction file without extracting the archive:

curl -fsSL https://docs.daydreams.systems/skills/lucid-agents/SKILL.md

The complete source also lives in the Lucid Agents repository under .agents/skills/lucid-agents. The archive includes its MIT license, version, client metadata, project inspector, and focused references. It contains no executable install hook; the only bundled script is invoked explicitly with Node.js 20 or newer.

Update or remove

To update, inspect the new manifest and checksum, then repeat the project install commands. The same-filesystem staging directory and backup prevent removed files from an old release surviving the update; a failed or interrupted replacement restores the previous skill when the destination is absent. Commit the .agents/skills/lucid-agents directory when teammates and CI should use the same skill version.

To remove the skill, delete only .agents/skills/lucid-agents. This does not alter Lucid dependencies or generated service files.

If your client uses a private global skill directory, extract the same archive there according to that client's documentation. Prefer a project-local install for reproducibility and reviewability.

Continue with Build with a coding agent for a good task prompt, or read Release channels before combining public packages with a local checkout.
